Thank You

Earlier this afternoon I caught wind from Dean Groom that I have been nominated for an Edublog Award for Best Educational Tech Support Blog and wanted to extend my humble appreciation to everyone who nominated me.

The award itself would be nice, to be sure, but more than anything else it is the acknowledgment of my peers – and the people I sincerely respect – that means the most to me about this.

To be identified as contributing something of value to the edublogging community – and perhaps the field of education more broadly – is a far greater compliment than I would have ever imagined when writing my very first post here.

This is, to me, a testimony to the power of blogging as a medium. I began writing and indeed continue to write, because I benefit from the act of doing so. Yet in sharing publicly what is for me an inherently personal, reflective process, I am able to reach out to others, connect with them, and cultivate relationships that may not have been possible via another medium.  And thus through the process of sharing, reflecting, discussing and ultimately coming together, we all benefit.

The process of blogging, for me, has helped establish strong friendships with some phenomenal people and equally amazing educators.  I consider myself blessed to be counted in their number.  So to be nominated as some sort of exemplar by members of the same amazing group of people is truly an honour and I thank you all for that.
