I’m currently watching the recording of a presentation called Where is the open education movement going?, organised by Educause Live, which is:
“…a series of free, hour-long interactive web seminars on critical information technology topics in higher education. Each seminar is delivered live using online audio and video/image presentation technology, allowing you to interact directly with the host and guests through your web browser.”

There’s been a great deal of chatter recently in the wake of Adobe’s two-fisted launch of acrobat.com and Acrobat 9. As Erik Schonfeld from TechCrunch elaborates ["Webtop Watch: Adobe Launches Acrobat.com and Releases Acrobat 9 (With Flash)"]:
“Acrobat.com is a combination of three recently launched online services: Adobe Brio (online meetings), Adobe Buzzword (online word processor), and Adobe Share (online file sharing). Via Mashable (“The United Nations Goes Green–Streams Climate Summit Online“):
“The United Nations is going green in an appropriate manner for its Climate Summit, which is being nicknamed the Virtual Bali Conference due to its green efforts–the organization will be streaming the Climate Summit live, beginning tomorrow and through December 14th. This is part of the United Nations’ efforts to emphasize the importance of the global plight by encouraging participants to view the conference online instead of flying in for the events.”

Just had a look at the showcase video for the new version of Mac OSX – Leopard – and I’m quite impressed. Preliminary news reports have deemed this new version “an evolution rather than a revolution” and based upon what I’ve just seen in the video I agree with their assessments – and yet the improvements that Apple has made to iChat in particular are phenomenal.

Today’s Sydney Morning Herald explains that the New South Wales Government plans to introduce electronic whiteboards and web-conferencing to NSW Schools.
“The State Government will install 200 high-tech digital whiteboards in NSW public schools, which it says will “transform the way education is delivered”, over the next year.The interactive whiteboards, along with video-conferencing technology and e-learning tools, will take up $28 million of tomorrow’s 2007-08 state budget.”
