Following on the post I wrote last night about Decka’s Deck, I wanted to pass along another example of a floating room. Found floating high above the Island of Svarga, the Ambipod is an immersive experience in its own right.
Access to the room is gained via what appears to be a transport couch located in the ground floor of the gorgeous building in the centre of the island. Just right-click on the couch and select sit, and then click again on the couch to start the journey upwards.

By way of Jenny Millea’s blog at edna.edu.au I just discovered a publication titled “Learning Spaces Framework: Learning in an Online World“.  The document was prepared by Curriculum Corporation as the legal entity for the Ministerial Council on Education, Employment, Training and Youth Affairs (MCEETYA) and outlines a holistic, strategic framework for planning and designing the production of learning spaces.
While it is geared more generally towards physical spaces, there are many areas in which it could be adapted and applied to the development of virtual ones as well.  The latter …

I was asked by a work colleague to take the department on a tour of SecondLife at our recent staff meeting and spent a fair bit of time earlier in the week putting it together. Unfortunately it didn’t end up happening, so rather than let a perfectly good presentation go to waste I thought I’d transform it into a video that could be shared on the web.

Google has just entered the realm of the virtual world with the launch of Lively.
Via the Official Google Blog (“Be who you want on the web pages you visit“):

The New Me

This is my alter ego in Second Life, Zapp Aeon. I freely admit the name has a total sci fi geek ring to it. The origin is a combination of two cartoon characters: Aeon Flux and Zapp Brannigan from Family Guy. I can’t say I resemble either in personality, but I’m happy with my Second Life persona nonetheless.
