I fear this post will come across as rushed and disjointed, because I have more thoughts I want to express than available time to express them.  But Simon McIntyre’s response to my post on Expanding the Role of the University has really got me to thinking.
To paraphrase in brief, Simon argues that my philosophical idealism may be nice, but in practice the demand for the informal sorts of opportunities that I initially proposed is not really all that high.  He sites his experiences with the ‘COFA Online Enrich’ program as an …

Following on my last post about open culture versus open content, I wanted to expand a bit on the topic of the distributed system of sharing that I mentioned.  I argued that sustainable models of sharing must first be embedded in culture and practice before they will truly make a difference; and that this model is most likely going to be a distributed one, since open education in practice is largely distributed as well.

The stars seem to all be aligning on Connectivism at the moment. A month or so ago I was approached about presenting my experiences with CCK08 to the local group of Educational Developers at UNSW, which I happily agreed to. The presentation isn’t until next week, however given I’ve more or less finished the slides today I thought I might release them for feedback, critique and suggestions.
NOTE: Due to the fine detail of the screenshots, this presentation is best viewed full screen.
