Ambipod: More Floating SecondLife Goodness

Following on the post I wrote last night about Decka’s Deck, I wanted to pass along another example of a floating room. Found floating high above the Island of Svarga, the Ambipod is an immersive experience in its own right.

Access to the room is gained via what appears to be a transport couch located in the ground floor of the gorgeous building in the centre of the island. Just right-click on the couch and select sit, and then click again on the couch to start the journey upwards.

If the couch isn’t currently available on the ground floor it can be called by clicking on the small post on the left side of the photo.

The room itself is very futuristic from the outside, with a smooth metallic look to it.

Inside the room is a psychedelic auditory-visual experience, complete with swirling colours, astronomic imagery and ambient music. I found the best way to take it all in was to right-click anywhere, select sit, and then lay back and enjoy the sites.

While this doesn’t necessarily have an educational bent to it, it’s nonetheless a nice example of design.
