Always happy to help :) One thing I forgot to add. Vidnik has been released under an Apache License 2.0 and is therefore opensource.

The FAQ page of Vidnik's Google Code site says as much:

"Q: Vidnik is OK, but I wish it did things differently.

A: Heh, that's not a question! Vidnik is open source. You can fetch the source from this website, build it yourself, and change your copy as you see fit. If you make improvements that I can fold back in to the official Vidnik, email me, I'd love to improve it. "

Now if I could only code...

There's also a Google Group devoted to the tool:

http://groups.google.com/group/vidnik

Currently there's a whopping 4 members - including me - so if you're interested in helping inform the direction of the project why not join and voice your suggestions?
